Greene Broillet & Wheeler LLP obtained a major victory on behalf of a woman who claimed her boss stole her winning $8 million SuperLotto ticket. A Pomona, CA jury ruled on behalf of Mark Quigley’s client, Arwa Farraj, who accused her supervisor at a Circle K of taking her winning ticket, paying her out for only $88 and then pocketing the ticket and walking away with the jackpot. Lottery officials had computer evidence that shows the ticket was purchased when Farraj was working, not her supervisor.
The Lottery also stated that there were no $88 winners for that particular drawing. The jury sided with Farraj, holding both her supervisor and the Circle K liable, awarding Farraj $3.9 million (the value of the ticket after taxes) and an equal amount in emotional damages.
